Install the right product the right way.
Most Viribright replacement lamps are straightforward to use. Products involving fixture modification, rewiring or commercial installation require additional care and product-specific instructions.
Viribright is a lighting supplier, not an electrical contractor. Electrical installation, fixture modification and code compliance should be handled by a qualified electrician or other qualified person as required by applicable laws and codes.
Always disconnect power before installation, removal, maintenance or fixture modification. Follow the product-specific installation instructions, luminaire markings and applicable electrical codes. Do not perform wiring work unless you are qualified to do so.
Different products. Different requirements.
The instructions supplied with the individual product are the controlling installation guidance. This page is intended to help customers identify the appropriate level of installation support.
LED Light Bulbs
Most standard screw-base and pin-base replacement lamps do not require a separate installation guide when used as a direct replacement in a compatible fixture.
- Before installation: switch power off and allow the existing lamp to cool.
- Confirm the replacement lamp matches the required base, voltage and fixture application.
- Confirm dimming capability before using a lamp with a dimmer or control system.
- Use only in fixtures and environments for which the product is rated.
- Do not force, overtighten, modify or disassemble the lamp.
Type B / Ballast-Bypass LED Tubes
Type B tubes involve electrical modification of the existing luminaire and are not treated as ordinary lamp replacement products.
- Installation requires the existing fixture to be de-energized and modified according to the specific product instructions.
- Ballast-bypass wiring must match the electrical configuration specified for the exact tube model.
- Do not assume wiring is interchangeable between different tube types, models or manufacturers.
- Required retrofit labels and luminaire markings must be applied where specified.
- Viribright recommends installation by a qualified electrician or other qualified professional.
Fixtures & Integrated Lighting
Commercial fixtures, integrated lighting products and products requiring mounting or electrical connection include installation information appropriate to the specific product.
- Follow the installation guide packaged with the product.
- Confirm supply voltage, environment, mounting method and product ratings before installation.
- Installation must comply with applicable electrical and building codes.
- Retain the installation guide and product identification for future service or warranty reference.
- If the supplied instructions are missing, damaged or unclear, contact Viribright before installation.
Rewiring is electrical work.
Type B LED tubes operate from line voltage after the applicable ballast is removed or bypassed. Because this changes the electrical configuration of the luminaire, installation should not be approached as a simple tube replacement.
Use the installation instructions supplied for the exact Viribright model. If you are unsure about the fixture configuration, wiring, sockets, voltage or applicable code requirements, stop and consult a qualified electrician.
Installation instructions travel with the product.
Commercial fixtures and integrated products can vary significantly in mounting, wiring, controls and intended environment. For that reason, the correct guide is supplied with the applicable product rather than presenting a generic installation method online.
