When upgrading old fixtures to UFO LED led high bay lights, it's crucial to understand equivalent brightness levels. Old metal halide bulbs use more energy because they require more wattage to achieve the necessary brightness. For instance, a 300W HID bulb can be replaced by a commercial-grade 100W or 150W UFO LED high bay light. Another consideration is the balance between the light produced and the ceiling height. If the original lighting was poorly designed or used incorrect products, it may not have provided enough light. A general rule is to match every 10ft of ceiling height with a UFO LED light that emits 10,000 lumens. For instance, a 30ft ceiling would need a 200W UFO LED high bay led lights emitting about 30,000 lumens, while a 20ft ceiling would suit a 150W LED light producing around 22,000 lumens.
